Before Your Appointment

7 Steps to Prepare for your waxing appointment

1. Let your hair grow to ¼ inch. About the length of a grain of rice. This ensures a clean, thorough wax. 2. Gently exfoliate 24–48 hours before your appointment. A light exfoliation helps lift hair from the follicle and reduces the chance of ingrowns. 3. Keep your skin clean and product-free the day of your appointment. Avoid lotions, oils, deodorants, and heavy skincare in the area being waxed. 4. Avoid sun exposure and tanning 48 hours before waxing. Sunburned or heat-irritated skin should never be waxed. 5. Pause active skincare products. Stop retinols, exfoliating acids (AHA/BHA), benzoyl peroxide, and prescription topicals for at least 5–7 days before facial waxing. (For body waxing, pause harsh exfoliants for 2–3 days.) 6. Stay hydrated and avoid caffeine before your service. Water keeps skin calm and supple; caffeine can make skin more sensitive. 7. If you’re sensitive, consider taking an OTC pain reliever 30 minutes beforehand. Optional, but helpful for first-time waxers or sensitive areas.

After Your Appointment

10 Steps to do after your waxing appointment

1. Avoid heat and sweating for 24 hours. No hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, workouts, or hot tubs. Heat can irritate freshly waxed skin. 2. Keep the area clean and avoid touching it. Hands carry bacteria—freshly waxed skin needs time to settle and heal. 3. Avoid sun exposure for 24–48 hours. Skin is extra sensitive after waxing. Use SPF once the area has calmed. 4. No exfoliation for 48 hours. After that, exfoliate gently 2–3 times per week to prevent ingrown hairs. 5. Skip makeup, deodorant, and fragranced products for 24 hours. Especially for facial waxing—give the skin time to breathe. 6. Avoid tight clothing over freshly waxed areas. Breathable fabrics help prevent irritation, especially for bikini or body waxing. 7. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to soothe and nourish the skin. 8. Expect mild redness or sensitivity. This can last a few hours to a full day—completely normal. Avoid picking, scratching, or exfoliating while skin is pink. 9. Treat ingrowns with care. If they occur, use warm compresses and gentle exfoliation. Avoid squeezing or picking, and let us know—we can recommend the right products. 10. Maintain a regular waxing schedule. Every 4–6 weeks helps weaken the hair root and achieve smoother, less painful results over time.
